UPDATES - March 18, 2011 -- Sushi for Tsunami Donation Forms, Restaurant Sign-Up Sheets, and Shirts, Stickers & Bags are now available.

What You Can Do Right Now: Get together with your sushi friends. Eat sushi, then make a monetary donation.
Either use the 8 step web based worksheet form below or the DIY Donation PDF Form version.

STEP 1. Print this page, and take it with you next time you get Sushi.
Bring copies for your dining companions, and other restaurant patrons.
STEP 2. Eat Sushi!
STEP 3. Make your calculations:

STEP 4. Choose your charity. We have a list of reliable charities and information about their relief work below.

STEP 5. Make your donation online, by mail, or in person at an authorized drop off location. [We don't recommend cardboard box donations.]

STEP 6. Tell your friends, including your Sushi Chef friend - give restaurant personnel the Restaurant Sign-Up Sheet.

STEP 7. Tell us. Email us, visit our Blog , or send us a Follow sushifortsunami on Twitter Tweet.

STEP 8. Repeat often.

It is important if you are going to donate your time or money to a group that you know it is legitimate and run well. An article on the Huffington Post warns about Quake/Tsunami Charity scams.

Where you can donate: We have listed reliable charities below. Additional organizations will be added as they are researched.

• Donate to the American Red Cross response - Select the radio button for  'Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami'
According to the Red Cross, "when donations exceed American Red Cross for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters."

• Donate to the Jewish Federation - Japan Earthquake Relief Fund
According to the Jewish Federation, 100 percent of donations collected by them will be distributed through their international network of partners. The Federation is absorbing all administrative costs.

• Donate to Chabad-Lubavitch of Asia - Japan's relief effort in Sendai - Japan Jewish Relief.

Read about Chabad's Japanese Community relief work. The local Chabad house of Japan in Tokyo is organizing food deliver to Sendai, and other assistance to the area. A local bakery has been commissioned by Chabad to bake bread for free distribution throughout the region. They are also providing basic assistance and aid for locals and tourists as well as needed information.

• Donate to the International Medical Corps - Emergency Response Fund. They have an emergency response team in Japan.
Their Emergency Response Fund does not appear to be specific to Japan.
